We are proud to partner with Northwest Harvest and help with their enormous task of feeding all the hungry men, women and children who are struggling to put food on the table during these tough economic times. With Northwest Harvest's super food-buying power, 67 cents feeds a family of three!

Donation Contest

As part of our emphasis on donations, every SAV-ON Insurance office has a Northwest Harvest donation bin in its office. We also work with Grocery Outlets to gather donations of non-perishable food for Northwest Harvest. We recently held a drawing for anyone who brought in three or more cans of food. The lucky winner, Sarvar Mugriyev, received a Roadside Assistance package which covers towing up to 50 miles, flat tires, lock-out and more!

Referral Donations Total Tops $1,000!

For every referral we get that we provide an insurance quote for, whether or not the policy is written, we donate $1 to Northwest Harvest. In 2009, we contributed a total of $1,076 to this worthwhile organization, and this year we're determined to do even better!

Volunteering at Northwest Harvest

In mid-December, a group of SAV-ON owners, employees and their children spent a couple of hours at the Northwest Harvest warehouse, helping sort the donations of canned and boxed food. The kids got in big containers of canned or boxed non-perishable food and handed it out to the adults, who determined if it was acceptable to give away. Others put together smaller boxes that were filled up with 25 lbs. of food.

It was a rewarding two hours of work, and the children learned an important lesson in helping the others. Everone involved had a great time (We’re all pictured below)!

Santa Visits Des Moines Office to Help Northwest Harvest

Santa paid an early visit to the our Des Moines office on Saturday, December 12th. The Jolly Old Elf arrived to help SAV-ON's Northwest Harvest donation program collect food for the hungry people in our area. Santa himself even donated $20 to the cause!

In addition to listening to all the kids' Christmas wish lists, every child who brought non-perishable food to donate to the food bank got a free framed photo with Santa!

Donny, pictured above sitting on Santa's lap, wanted to see his famous list to make sure he was on it.

Everyone had a fun time, and lots of food and money was collected.

Thanks to everyone for their generosity!
