Featured Employee Dylan Culbert: Flexible Hours Are To His Liking

Being good friends with the owner’s daughter has its benefits. Dylan Culbert, one of SAV-ON’s employees who scans and files in the Des Moines headquarters, is a good friend of Juliette Devitte, the daughter of co-owner Phil Devitte. She suggested he apply for an open position there a little over a year ago, he did, and was hired in June 2020.

While friends at Federal Way High School, they both participated in the concert choir and choral groups together.

Dylan is currently in his fourth year at the University of Washington Tacoma campus focusing on bio-medical, research, and pre-med studies, with a goal of becoming a Physician Assistant.

He found out from Juliette about an opening at SAV-ON for a scanner/filer position and really liked the fact that it afforded flexible hours, so he could continue to attend the university and still have a job to earn money for living expenses.

Of course, working with his good friend, Juliette, and his other friend, Stephanie Zambrano (featured below), the atmosphere is enjoyable.
He also likes that he’s doing an important job at SAV-ON. It is important that they keep accurate records of all insurance transactions and that when they need to find the records they can be retrieved easily.

While in high school, Dylan sang in the concert choir as well as a choral group. They competed with other high schools and won quite a few awards during his years there, including many gold awards. One year the concert choir he was a part of won the prestigious Adjudicator Award.

He enjoys not only the company of his co-workers, but everyone who works with him at SAV-ON Insurance.

“It’s a really nice place to work,” he says, “Everyone is very friendly, and the managers allow a lot of flexibility in my work schedule, which is very important to me.”

As far as his free time is concerned, Dylan likes to hang out with friends, head to the park, or go kayaking. He is also a serious video games player.

Between his work and studies, he would like to take a trip to South Korea at some point. His mother was born there so he would like to familiarize himself with the Korean culture.

While he currently enjoys his job at SAV-ON, his goal in the next five years or so is to attend graduate school and then obtain his master’s degree in the medical field.

It’s a win-win situation for both Dylan and SAV-ON; they get an enthusiastic worker, and he gets all the flexibility he needs to work toward his career goals.
