With this being her first job, Stephanie Zambrano didn’t know what to expect when she was hired by SAV-ON Insurance in June 2020. She did know she would be working alongside her friend, Juliette Devitte, the daughter of co-owner Phil Devitte. She and Juliette have been friends since grade school, and now they would be working together!

Hired to work in the scanning and filing area at SAV-ON’s Des Moines headquarters, it didn’t take long for Stephanie to get comfortable with her new surroundings. After all, she was working with not only her friend, Juliette, but also another friend, Dylan Culbert, who had been hired at about the same time.

The trio make up the entire department, and they enjoy each other’s company while getting important work done for SAV-ON. They scan customer information as well as file necessary insurance information so it can be retrieved quickly. Without this important function performed accurately, it would be difficult for agents to find critical client documentation in a timely manner.

Stephanie has known Juliette since grade school, and they also share an interest in music. When they got to Federal Way High School they sang together all four years in the concert choir, as well as the chamber choir and a jazz group.

Stephanie has found working at SAV-ON to be very rewarding. Not only can she work with her friends, but the flexibility in her work schedule allows her to pursue her college degree.

“I love working at SAV-ON,” she says. “I am grateful to Phil, Rick, and Shay (SAV-ON management) for hiring me and trusting me.”

When not working at SAV-ON she is hard at work studying at Pacific Lutheran University for her psychology degree. An excellent student when she was attending Federal Way High School, she earned a full-ride scholarship at PLU and is making the most of it.

“Getting the scholarship was amazing! I had to interview and was one of only five people who received a full scholarship,” she reveals. “It was a shocking moment for me to be chosen from all the candidates!”

She is pursuing her psychology degree so she can use her degree to help people of color and first-generation students such as herself (students from families in which their parents did not earn a four-year degree).

Born and raised in Federal Way, she lives with her mom and a yorkie-poodle dog named “Lexi”. She also has a 21-year-old sister. Having obtained her driver’s license and a car recently, she enjoys heading out and exploring the area.

She considers herself adaptable and prides herself on being a quick learner. As evidence of that she was recently promoted to working part-time in the Data Entry department, while still spending some of her time filing and scanning with her friends.

Her future is focused on achieving her goal of becoming a psychologist, at some point in time she would love to visit New York City. She considers herself a big-city person and would like to experience the New York scene.

Whatever she ends up doing, she is undoubtedly going to end up a big success. In the meantime, she gets to work with her friends and plan for her future.
