Motorcycle insurance forWashington riders.

Short riding season, wet roads, and a lot of drivers who are not looking for you. We build motorcycle coverage around how and when people actually ride here.

The Basics

What a motorcycle policy covers.

A motorcycle policy works much like auto insurance: liability for injury or damage you cause, physical damage coverage for the bike itself, and protection if the other driver has no insurance.

Where it differs is in the details that matter to riders. Custom parts and accessories usually need to be scheduled separately or they are not covered to value. Riding gear is often excluded unless you add it. And passenger liability is not always automatic.

Washington also has a seasonal factor most riders do not think about. Many carriers offer lay-up or storage periods that reduce premium during months the bike is not being ridden, which can meaningfully lower the annual cost.

  • Custom parts and accessories coverage
  • Uninsured and underinsured motorist protection
  • Roadside assistance and trip interruption options
  • Lay-up and seasonal storage options where available
  • Multi-policy discounts when bundled with auto

Washington riding realities:

  • Wet roads much of the year
  • Heavy I-5 and SR-99 traffic
  • High uninsured-motorist exposure
  • Short peak riding season
  • Theft risk in dense urban areas

Motorcycle Insurance FAQs

Is motorcycle insurance required in Washington?
Washington requires motorcycle riders to carry liability coverage or otherwise demonstrate financial responsibility. The specific minimum limits are set by the state and are frequently lower than what we would recommend for riding in heavy Puget Sound traffic.
Does my policy cover custom parts and accessories?
Only up to a default limit, which is often far lower than what riders have actually spent. If you have added exhausts, bags, a fairing, or chrome, tell us the total value and we will schedule the right amount rather than leaving you short at claim time.
Can I reduce my premium over the winter?
Often, yes. Several carriers offer lay-up or storage periods that lower premium during months you are not riding, while keeping comprehensive coverage in force against theft and damage. Availability varies by carrier, so ask us to check.
Does motorcycle insurance cover my passenger?
Passenger liability is not automatic on every policy. If you regularly ride two-up, say so when you get a quote so we can confirm passenger coverage is included rather than assumed.
Can I bundle motorcycle with my auto policy?
Usually, and it is often the cheapest way to insure a bike. We will quote it both ways — bundled and standalone — so you can see the actual difference.
