Employee Benefits

Group medical insurance forWashington employers.

The benefit your people judge everything else by. We market it across carriers every renewal instead of accepting the increase that lands in your inbox.

The Basics

Most group plans drift because nobody re-markets them.

The common pattern is this: a plan gets placed once, renewals arrive each year with a percentage increase and no alternative, and nobody shops it because shopping it is work. Three years later the employer is paying well above market for a plan their staff do not particularly like.

Marketing a renewal properly means going to multiple carriers, comparing network adequacy as well as price, and modelling what actually changes for employees rather than just the premium line. In South King County that network question is real, because the major Puget Sound systems are not in every network.

Start about ninety days before your renewal date. Earlier than that and carriers will not quote; later and there is no time to do it properly.

  • Renewal marketed across carriers, not rubber-stamped
  • Network checked against where your people actually go
  • Contribution strategy modelled, not guessed
  • Enrollment support in English and Spanish
  • Compliance guidance on notices and filings

What we'll ask for:

  • Number of eligible employees
  • Current plan and renewal date
  • What you contribute today
  • Whether dependents are covered
  • What is not working about the plan

Group Medical FAQs

How many employees do I need to offer a group plan?
The practical minimum is lower than most owners assume, and small-group options exist well below the headcount people expect. Tell us your number and we will tell you what is actually available rather than quoting a threshold.
Do I have to pay the whole premium?
No. Most employers contribute a percentage toward employee-only coverage and let employees fund dependent coverage. Carriers set minimum contribution and participation requirements, and we will walk you through what yours would be.
When should I start looking at my renewal?
About ninety days out. That is early enough for carriers to quote and late enough that the numbers are real. Leave it to the last few weeks and your only option is to accept what you were given.
Can you help employees understand the plan?
Yes, and we think this is where most benefits packages fail. A plan nobody understands does not retain anyone. We support enrollment in English and Spanish.
